BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL GLOVE REPAIRS

GOLDEN GLOVE REPAIR

I still remember it like it was yesterday, my first baseball glove.  It seemed to me at the time to be the best gift I had ever received.  The look and feel was something that I can still remember all of these years later.  I couldn’t wait to use it once I was old enough to join the baseball league in our community.

Since that time my glove and I have long since parted ways.  I remember how we parted as vividly as the day I got it.  I still regret losing it and hate the fact that I didn’t realize the importance until I got older.

I played organized baseball for many enjoyable years.  When I got older, and less skilled I tried to stay involved by coaching both my daughter’s softball and my son’s baseball teams.  As a coach, I noticed that the true spirit of a baseball glove has diminished with some of the kids today, including my own. Today, there are so many companies making quality baseball gloves that the days of having one last many years seems over.  I see gloves get two or three years of use and then get replaced with newer models.  I am not sure why this happens, but it does.  The gloves that are made today are even more durable than the gloves that were around when I was a kid, yet they seem to have become disposable.

When people ask me why I enjoy doing this I tell them that the answer is simple.  I am trying to do my little part in helping preserve that feeling I had as a kid, and hopefully pass that on to someone else.  It’s not the money, lets be honest, I am not going to get rich doing this, but if I can help preserve some of the mystique that came with owning and taking care of your own glove, then, in a way, I am rich.

This is why I started “Golden Glove Repair”.  I want to try to provide everyone an alternative to the disposable glove.  There are options and one is to restore their glove to a “like new” state.  Even if the need is to get a new glove, restore the old one and use it as a spare.

I think what makes “Golden Glove Repair” different from the others is two things. It’s the time that is spent doing the best job possible and the simple understanding of what a glove means to the person who owns it.  To some it’s just a glove, but to someone who took the time to properly break it in, clean, condition and care for it on a regular basis, the experience is much more satisfying once they get it back and see the new condition it is in.  My goal is to be able to turn back the hands of time on a tool that is used to play the greatest game ever.

Remember to get down in front of the ball and let your glove do the rest.

Keep playing..

Pete
